What is SMLS?

Static Multiple Light Scattering (SMLS) is an advanced optical analytical technique that applies the principle of light scattering to assess dispersions. By capturing the way a light beam scatters when it comes into contact with particles suspended in a medium, SMLS can deduce the size and concentration of these particles. This approach is non-invasive, rapid, and exceptionally sensitive, allowing for the swift collection of data without compromising the sample's original state. The non-destructive nature of SMLS is particularly beneficial for analyzing samples with dense particle populations.

Beyond mere particle size and concentration measurements, SMLS technology delves deeper into the dynamics of the sample, revealing critical information about particle movement, the state of aggregation, and the interactions between particles. This level of detail is invaluable for the fine-tuning of product formulations and the streamlining of manufacturing operations. The versatility of SMLS is evident in its adoption across a range of industries such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, cosmetics, agrochemicals, and in the production of inks and coatings. It serves as a powerful tool for businesses and researchers, facilitating more accurate and informed decisions in the realms of product innovation and quality control, which in turn, elevates the standard and efficacy of the end products.
